Introduction

The Artists Chen’s Garden

The main building of the garden is a traditional Taiwanese ancient house―yitiaolong ancient house. Chen jiong hui was the former master who lived with Paiwan aborigines to study the primitive wood carving in Pingtung County.

In 1972, he established the“山地門雕刻社(Sandimen wood carving company)” in his hometown. He used Paiwan totem to decorate the garden. The most special part is that he combined the aboriginal wood carving culture into the Taiwanese ancient building.

After Chen jiong hui died in 1990, the place has been retained by his family. In 2007 his brother― Chen qing hai took over and rebuilt the garden. The garden is full of human and culture space after the reconstruction. When you step into it, every pieces of wood carving come into view. There is so much devotion and eagerness of the owner Chen qing hai to the art and cultural inheritance.

The garden was reopened in April, 2010. Exhibitions are held regularly in the garden. If you would like to enjoy the art and culture, welcome to visit The Artists Chen’s Garden.
